Glenys is a
Councillor
on
Port
Stephens
Council in the Lower Hunter Valley of NSW
Australia.
First elected in 1995 and re-elected with an increased margin in each subsequent election. She served as Deputy Mayor / Acting Mayor Sept. 2000 - 2002
As a resident of Port Stephens for nearly 30 years in both Raymond Terrace and Medowie, Glenys has seen the face of the Local Government Area change quite significantly some for the good and some for the not so good.
She has had a significant influence in change for the good, for all of the citizens of Port Stephens, not just those who had it in their minds to develop at all costs, sometimes to the detriment of the existing residents.
Glenys is a long time community advocate and activist.
She believes that the collective wisdom of the community is far more important, and valid, than that of some of the narrow self interests that we see in some sections of the pro-development community.
